Support Post-Production
I’m excited to be working with Ashlei Payne of Tracing Thought to produce an independent documentary about Greenland. After two very successful and exciting filming expeditions, this project is finally in post-production, and Ashlei is working tirelessly on completing the rough cut so we can submit the film to festivals and share it with you!
We are seeking funds to support essential post-production tasks, such as audio engineering, musical score, and other legal and insurance requirements for the film's release. 100% of all donations will go directly towards helping us go further and dig deeper to shine a spotlight on unheard voices and produce the film you deserve. Please consider supporting us in this epic endeavor!

Thank you for your support of our documentary film – Hila Kihimi. In the Inuktun dialect, the word ‘hila’ has two meanings: the weather and the universe. Hila kihimi is a phrase that embodies a sentiment about the delicate connection between humans and the environment and how this relationship dictates all of our lives. It is a phrase about the uncertainty that colors all aspects of the environment, even more so today in the face of a changing climate. For the hunters of North Greenland, ‘hila’ is indeed the universe, and today, this uncertain connection stands at the forefront of everyday life.
Logline: In the northernmost settlements on Earth, Greenland’s subsistence hunters face growing restrictions creating a surprising tug-of-war between wildlife conservation and indigenous cultural heritage.
This film boldly tackles this challenging topic by diving into a surprising story about what happens when an indigenous culture’s way of living in harmony with nature collides at odds with global conservation imperatives. Our project makes a meaningful contribution to society by returning agency to the community and striving towards a more just future in which the survival of indigenous cultural heritage and the protection of endangered species are both possible. Support from the Mountainfilm Commitment Grant will help us tell this story and achieve these higher ideals through the medium of film.
This intimate story leverages rare access to reveal the hidden lives of the world’s northernmost hunters. The narrative will lead you through unexpected twists and turns, causing you to question everything you thought you knew about the modern conservation movement and indigenous social justice.
